September 2017 — Procaccianti Companies, a privately-held real estate investment and management company, today announced the AC Hotel by Marriott San Jose Downtown has been certified as a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Gold Hotel. The AC Hotel San Jose is managed by TPG Hotels & Resorts, Procaccianti Companies’ hospitality management affiliate.

“Optimizing this hotel’s energy performance is not only a fiscally sound business decision, it’s the socially responsible thing to do in a world with finite resources,” said Rob Leven, Chief Investment Officer of Procaccianti Companies. “Our development & construction team worked closely with DLR Group to pinpoint where we could reduce waste and improve energy efficiency. Though the initial investment to secure LEED Gold status was higher than building a property of comparable size with traditional energy output, the enhancements are expected to earn valuable savings in the coming years.”

The AC Hotel by Marriott San Jose Downtown won the LEED Gold Hotel certification through a close examination of the property’s design features and construction elements. Water use reduction, alternative transportation stations and fundamental refrigeration management, as well as outdoor air delivery monitoring, factored into the design portion of the award selection process. Certifying agents focused on the use of regional materials, recycled content, low emitting materials and construction waste management while evaluating the hotel’s construction.

Located at 350 West Santa Clara Street, the property is within walking distance of San Jose Museum of Art, The Tech Museum of Innovation and the San Jose Convention Center. The hotel’s 210 guest rooms offer European-inspired décor, complimentary Wi-Fi and wide views of the Bay Area mountains. Property amenities include the AC Kitchen & Lounge, fitness center, salt water pool and 3,420 square feet of flexible meeting space.

Leven added, “Associates and ownership appreciate doing their small part to help shepherd the planet while providing quality accommodations to discerning business and leisure guests seeking experiential travel experiences.”
